05 Jun Spotlight on Virgin Australia’s Feature Artists
To help an airline use their inflight entertainment to its full potential, we like to produce bespoke content that reflects the airlines’ brand, available only in the air. For our long-term client Virgin Australia, we exclusively produce a monthly video buzz reel and an entire suite of curated playlists and radio shows. One such show is Feature Artist, a monthly two-hour radio show that features a different artist each cycle.
Produced by Sam Allen and engineered by Ryan Burrows, this show is a great opportunity for Virgin Australia to highlight their relationship with Mushroom Group, Australia’s largest independent record label, a deal negotiated on their behalf by Stellar Entertainment. Feature Artist Playlist guests onboard have included music legends like Jimmy Barnes, Butch Vig, Troy Cassar-Daley, Russell Morris, Joe Camilleri (The Black Sorrows), Ross Wilson (Mondo Rock), Mark Seymour, Kate Ceberano (I’m Talking) and Broderick Smith; alongside newer music legends Vance Joy, DMA’S, alt-J, Julia Jacklin, Dan Sultan, The Rubens, Gavin James. Each of these artists come to our studio in Sydney, Australia, and share stories about the inspiration behind and the making-of a career’s worth of music.
“We could not be happier with the opportunity for our Artists to share their music and their stories on VA’s Feature Artist Playlist,” said Warren Costello, Managing Director of Bloodlines (part of Mushroom Group). “We believe that it not only enhances VA’s unique customer entertainment experience but also gives our most revered Artists an opportunity to chat openly and insightfully about the music that has defined their past and will shape their future.”
Since Feature Artists inception in 2016, it has been twice shortlisted for the Best Original Audio Award at the APEX awards in 2017 and 2018.
